About the Meteorological Autumn in the Capital

The Borys Sreznevskyi Central Geophysical Observatory reports that, according to observations from the Kyiv Combined Hydrometeorological Station, meteorological autumn arrived in the capital on September 24, beginning one week later than the climatic norm. It is characterized by the steady drop of the average daily air temperature below +15°C.
The earliest meteorological autumn reached Kyiv in 1993 — on August 25, while the latest was on October 15 in 2020.
This year’s meteorological summer, which began on May 21, ended on September 23 and lasted a total of 126 days. The longest summer was in 2012 — 166 days, while the shortest was in 1990 — 88 days.
