Meteorological summer has arrived in the capital
The Borys Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory reports that a steady shift in the average daily air temperature in Kyiv from +15.0°C to its increase occurred on May 4, which marks the beginning of meteorological summer. Thus, the meteorological spring, which began on February 23 and lasted 70 days, has ended. Its duration coincided with the climatic norm.
This year's meteorological summer has arrived in Kyiv a week earlier than the average long-term indicators. The earliest in 146 years of observations it began in 1996 - on April 22, and the latest - on June 7 in 1990, 2001.
